Turkey NOTAMs

A Notice to Airmen, a.k.a. NOTAM, is a notice filed with an aviation authority to alert aircraft pilots of potential hazards along a flight route or at a location that could affect the safety of the flight.

4 Şubat 2016 tarihinden yayınlanan AIP gereği, Türkiye havasahasında CTR - ACC pozisyonlarında görev alan ATC'ler (LTBB FIR dahil) hizmet verecekleri sektörlerde "ANKARA KONTROL" radyo çağrı adını kullanacaklardır. "İSTANBUL KONTROL" radyo çağrı adı kullanılmayacaktır.

According to latest AIP published on 4 Feb 2016, all ATCs serving in Turkish Airspace as CTR - ACC positions, will use radio callsing "ANKARA CONTROL" in their sectors (including LTBB FIR). "ISTANBUL CONTROL" radio callsign will not be used anymore.

COMMUNICATION PROCEDURE

As by ICAO Documentation 9432 – manual of radiotelephony, a callsign shall be one of the following types:

  • The characters corresponding to the registration marking of the aircraft.
  • The telephony designator of the aircraft operating company or agency, followed by the last four characters of the registration marking of the aircraft.
  • The telephony designator of the aircraft operating company or agency, followed by the flight identification

On initial contact, pilot must spell his complete callsign, usually at the end of his message. Always pronounce each digit separately.

A pilot shall use his abbreviated callsign only after air traffic controller has taken the initiative.
